The lymphatic system is considered part of the immune system and circulatory system. It helps maintain body fluid balance, removes cellular wastes, absorbs fat, and protects the body from foreign microorganisms.

The respiratory system has two main functions: breathing and respiration. Breathing is an involuntary action of the mechanical movement of air. Respiration is about exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide in the bloodstream.

The excretory system removes unnecessary substances, or wastes, from the body.

The endocrine system is composed of glands and functions as a communication system in order to elicit a response from the body and regulate and maintain homeostasis. Endocrine glands produce hormones, which are released into the bloodstream and distributed to body cells. Hormones can then act as chemical messengers to target specific cells to produce a response. Hormones can further be classified as steroid hormones and amino acid hormones, as described below.

The skeletal system makes up the framework of our body. It enables us to move, protects our organs, synthesizes blood cells, and stores nutrients such as calcium.

The muscle system is an organ system that has three main structures: skeletal, cardiac, and smooth. The three structures work together to support the body’s movement, provide protection, and regulate temperature.

The integumentary system is an organ system that covers the entire body. It is made up of the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous layer. The main functions of the integumentary system are to regulate body temperature, protect from infection and radiation, perceive senses, and produce vitamin.

Food moves from the mouth, through the esophagus to the digestive organs in your body. The digestive system ingests food, breaks it down into nutrients, absorb those nutrients and move them into your blood, and then excrete waste your body cannot process.

The circulatory system transports are blood cells, nutrients, and waste. Blood vessels carry those substances from the body to the heart, then back to the body.
